[TEST] Marrakech through the eyes of fashion designer Marina Bitu
Fashion designer Marina Bitu took advantage of the months of December and January to travel through Europe with her husband. At the request of Márcia Travessoni Galeria, she shared her experience of one of her favorite destinations from the trip: Marrakech.
"My desire to go to Marrakech was an old one! I dreamed of experiencing Berber culture, exploring the souks, and discovering Moroccan flavors. After a quick stopover in Lisbon, we began our journey to the red city."

Upon arrival, Menara Airport immediately captivates those passionate about architecture and design. The project, designed by E2A Architecture, presents a contemporary vision of Moroccan architecture while respecting traditions. With large, perforated panels in mosaic patterns, natural light penetrates the airport's central hall, creating a beautiful interplay of light and shadow.
On a four-day itinerary, we explored the city's main monuments and museums. In a neighborhood slightly removed from the Medina, the unmissable Jardin Majorelle and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum stand out. Both are inspiring for the beauty of their buildings, the cultural value of the institutions, and especially for the collection of the designer who gives his name to the Museum.

Cafe Le Studio, a restaurant belonging to the YSL Museum complex, is a must-visit. With a menu featuring contemporary references and Moroccan influences, it's worth ordering an appetizer, a main course, and finishing with spicy coffee and the delicious macarons (the most delicate and flavorful we've ever tasted).
Returning to the Medina, while wandering through the souks, it's worth taking a moment to admire the various handcrafted goods displayed in the narrow alleyways of Marrakech's markets. Among carpets, bags, babouches, oils, essences, and spices, it's worthwhile to get lost and then find your way through the confusing – and captivating – alleyways.
In my opinion, I found the best selection of products in the small square in front of the famous Café des Épices. The restaurant's terrace, besides being charming and highly Instagrammable, is the perfect place to observe the activity in the square, with locals and travelers arriving and departing, constantly negotiating in search of what's good for me, good for you.
