Before you understand what you're looking at, you feel it, something luminous, something alive, something that catches light differently from every angle and distance in a way that no fabric you have ever worn has quite managed. And then you get close enough to see it clearly. And you realize that what you are looking at is not fabric at all.
Every surface of this top is covered in real camurupim fish scales, each one harvested carefully and sustainably on the northeastern coast of Brazil, each one treated and finished by hand, each one anchored individually to a satin-finish macramé base at its own knot point. One scale. One knot. One hand. Repeated across the entire top until the surface becomes something akin to art.
In still light, the scales are warm ivory and translucent, like mother of pearl that grew in warm water rather than a workshop, luminous without trying, beautiful without performing. In motion, they shift independently of one another, each scale responding to light and air in its own way, so the whole surface appears to breathe. At a dinner table in candlelight, the effect is something you will spend the rest of the evening trying to describe to people who weren't there.
The macramé base reveals itself only at the neckline, where delicate satin-thread ties fasten at the neck and back, adjusting the fit with a precision and delicacy that feels entirely appropriate for something this considered. The back is open. The silhouette is clean. Everything that is extraordinary about this top lives in its surface, and the surface gives it everything it needs.
Because the scales are a natural material, every top is genuinely unrepeatable; small variations in size, translucency, and warm ivory tone between scales are not inconsistencies but signatures. The proof that a human being made this, from something the sea provided, with full attention and genuine skill.
